3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris allowed two unearned runs to suffer his sixth blown save in a loss to the Mets on Saturday. The runs were unearned because the leadoff batter reached on an error, but Neris wasn't sharp in this game as he allowed two walks and a hit. He did pick up a strikeout, but eventually gave up a walk-off sac-fly to Michael Conforto, spoiling a game the Phillies were poised to win despite facing Jacob deGrom. On Friday afternoon manager Joe Girardi said Neris would be removed from the closer role, but Neris earned a save in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader because Jose Alvarado blew a save in Game 1. Got all that? The Phillies bullpen is a mess. It wouldn't be a surprise to see any of Neris, Alvarado, Archie Bradley, Connor Brogdon, or Ranger Suarez get the next save chance.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
