Jacob deGrom Allows Two Earned Runs Against Phillies
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom allowed two runs, both earned, over six innings in his Saturday start against the Philadelphia Phillies. It was actually a season-high in earned runs allowed for the hurler, who hadn't allowed a run in eight of his previous 12 starts. The 33-year-old didn't collect the win on the day, though, as he departed with New York trailing by a run following the top of the sixth. The Mets would later win on a Michael Conforto sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth. Overall, deGrom turned in another strong outing, striking out five and walking just one batter. He surrendered just three hits and also hit a batter on 88 pitches. The long-time Met continues to be the best pitcher in fantasy baseball, not to mention Major League Baseball, and it's not hard to see why. A deeper dive into the ace's performance on Saturday reveals a stellar 36% CSW rate and 14 swings and misses on his slider. He'll carry a 0.69 ERA and a 0.98 FIP into his next start.
