Archie Bradley Earns First Save On Sunday
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Archie Bradley allowed one run but nothing else to earn his first save of the season on Sunday. Bradley was summoned to protect a three-run lead at the Mets as the Philly bullpen had an eventful weekend in Queens. Manager Joe Girardi said on Friday that Neris would be removed from the closer role. In Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader, however, Jose Alvarado blew a five-out save. In Game 2, Neris earned a save. Neris was called upon again on Saturday, but blew the save. Now on Sunday, Bradley earned a save with Alvarado pitching the eighth inning. With how bad the back-end of this Phillies bullpen has been, don't be surprised to see this morph into a full-blown committee.
