Jon Gray Notches A Quality Start On Wednesday
3 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Jon Gray earned the win on Wednesday when he allowed two runs on two hits with four walks and five strikeouts across six innings in a 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Gray did a fine job limiting the Pirates offense, only surrendering two hits on the day, but he did have issues with walks. He matched a season-high with four free passes. Ke'Bryan Hayes knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the first inning before Bryan Reynolds crushed a solo home run to right-center field. Gray was able to settle down after the first and shut down Pittsburgh over the next five frames. He notched his first quality start since being activated from the IL and now owns a 5-6 record on the season. He'll carry his 3.89 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 65:31 K/BB ratio (74 innings) into his next start against the D-Backs on the road. He'll be worth streaming in that one.
