3 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker was designated for assignment on Thursday ahead of the series finale against the Chicago White Sox. The move comes on the heels of another dreadful performance by Shoemaker, who surrendered eight earned runs during Wednesday's game, raising his ERA to 8.06, the worst in Twins history relative to the rest of the league. The veteran right-hander will be replaced on the 40-man roster by reliever Derek Law. Bailey Ober seems likely to continue making spot starts in the rotation for the remainder of the year.--Tim Capurso
