Alek Manoah Dominates Rays On Friday
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah was dominant on Friday as he shutout the Rays over seven innings in the team's 11-1 win. He struck out 10 in the outing and also set the Blue Jays record with seven consecutive strikeouts that spanned the first and third innings. The Rays weren't able to get a hit off the right-hander until the sixth inning as Manoah finished his outstanding game with one walk and three hits allowed. The 23-year-old rookie improved to 2-0 through seven starts and lowered his ERA and WHIP to 2.70 and 1.01 respectively, providing the club with much needed help to their rotation. He's locked into must-start territory with his high ceiling as he looks ahead to his next matchup versus the Orioles.
