Ranger Suarez Earns Win In Relief On Friday
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Ranger Suarez pitched 1 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run to pick up the win when the home team walked off in the 10th inning. Suarez was called on in the ninth when Jose Alvarado ran into trouble. Two of Alvarado's baserunners scored on Suarez's watch, so Suarez was tagged with a blown save, but overall he did a good job to get the game to extras and pitch around the automatic runner to give Philly a chance to win. Suarez is sporting a 0.88 ERA and a 0.72 WHIP through 30 2/3 innings this season. The left-hander does not have a save at any level since rookie-ball, but he's worth taking a flier on in deeper roto leagues as Philadelphia is running out of options to try as the closer.
