3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zach Eflin allowed two runs on three hits across six innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Saturday. Eflin had a rough first inning as he needed 28 pitches to complete the frame and served up a towering home run to Manny Machado. The 27-year-old righty settled down after that, however, as he needed just 86 pitches to get through six innings. He only picked up two strikeouts, but Eflin was in control all afternoon as he earned a ton of weak contact (80.6 average exit velocity) and ground balls (seven ground-ball outs). Eflin will look to finish the first half strong against a Cubs lineup that has struggled versus right-handed pitching this season.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
