Marcus Stroman Battles Through Five Innings Sunday
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Marcus Stroman went five innings on Sunday in the Mets 10-5 win over the Yankees in the first game of a doubleheader at Yankee Stadium. Stroman allowed six hits and walked one, limiting damage to just three earned runs (five total runs) against him. He did not record a strikeout and did not factor into the decision. It was a gutsy performance for Stroman who was coming off of a rough outing against the Phillies last Sunday and who had just recently come off the bereavement list. Stroman has had a terrific campaign so far in 2021, despite a recent rough-patch in which he has thrown only nine innings combined over his last three starts allowing five earned runs on 11 hits, and six walks, with just three strikeouts. Overall, Stroman has posted a 2.60 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and struck out 78 batters over 93 1/3 IP. He remains a solid fantasy contributor who should continue to provide excellent ratios and quality starts to fantasy managers.
