3 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack was obliterated for nine runs (eight earned) in two innings Wednesday against the Washington Nationals. The right-hander had enjoyed some consistency lately, turning in six of eight solid outings, but the run abruptly ended in an unequivocal meltdown. Paddack permitted nine hits and a walk while striking out two. The 25-year-old will enter the All-Star break with a poor 5.40 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 24 percent strikeout rate over 75 innings. After a brilliant rookie campaign in 2019 and disappointing 2020, fantasy managers are certainly witnessing more of the latter. While a 4.25 xERA is encouraging, he should be viewed as a spot starter on a weekly basis.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
