3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Frankie Montas allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings pitched against the Astros to earn his eighth win of the season. Montas threw 71 of his 95 pitches for strikes as he was in control right from the start. He collected all 10 of his strikeouts by the end of the fourth inning and managed to keep the scorching-hot Houston offense off the scoreboard until the seventh inning when he was lifted after allowing back-to-back two-out hits. Montas hasn't been great this season as evidenced by his 4.41 ERA, but he does have big strikeout potential as he's got 105 K's in 99 innings this season. He's a strong fantasy option versus a weak-hitting Indians lineup in a home start after the All-Star break.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
