3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga pitched the ninth inning in a non-save situation on Friday against the Houston Astros. Loaisiga was excellent, needing just nine pitches to navigate the frame, fanning one batter in the process. The effort lowered his season ERA to 2.11 to go along with a superb 7-3 record and three saves. Loaisiga has been one of the most underrated pitchers on the Yankees this season and possesses the metric stats to back that up, with a 25 percent strikeout rate and 98th percentile or better marks in barrel and hard-hit rate. He should be rostered in more formats moving forward, even if his role as a potential closer is short-lived.--Tim Capurso
