3 years agoColorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (illness) will not play on Saturday evening against the San Diego Padres. With Trevor Story (soreness) out after getting hit by a pitch on Friday, Rodgers was originally slated to cover second base while Chris Owings took over short. However, it now appears gastrointestinal issues will keep the 24-year-old out of the lineup as well, opening the door for Garrett Hampson to enter the lineup and bat second. Hampson has played well this year, batting .246, with 66 hits, 38 runs, 21 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and six dingers throughout 82 games. Fantasy managers looking to fill a void should certainly keep him in mind.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller
