Sean Murphy Caps First Half With Another Homer Versus Texas
3 years agoOakland Athletics catcher Sean Murphy hit a solo home run for the second consecutive game to help the A's earn a series win at Texas on the eve of the All-Star break. Murphy got off to a slow start this season, but he finished the first half strong and heads into the break slashing .222/.313/.427 with 12 homers and 43 RBI, the second-highest RBI total among catchers. He won't hit for a high average, but Murphy takes his walks (8.5% BB%) and hits the ball hard (35% hard-hit rate) which should lead to more homers and RBI batting sixth or seventh for a good A's lineup. The sophomore backstop is a top-12 catcher to roster in fantasy leagues for the second half.
