3 years agoChicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton will head into training camp as the starter; but for how long? Head coach Matt Nagy has told multiple media outlets that the veteran passer is the unquestioned starter while rookie Justin Fields gets his NFL feet under him. But fantasy teams will be monitoring this situation closely, as Fields is almost guaranteed to see the field in 2021. Fields could immediately be considered a top-15 play among quarterbacks but Dalton, according to Sports Illustrated's Gene Chamberlain, is ranked much lower. Chamberlain's QB18 ranking for Dalton is based on, "poor yards per pass (6.5), a mediocre passer rating (87.3) and a series of PFF's invented metrics like big-time throw rate (ranked 36th) and turnover-worthy passes (ranked 12th) all point toward this." Dalton will lack fantasy appeal heading into the season.--Joey C - RotoBaller
