James Robinson Should Lead Jaguars In Carries
3 years agoJacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson was a revelation in his rookie season last year, totaling 1,414 yards from scrimmage and 10 total touchdowns. Despite his success, the new Jaguars regime, led by head coach Urban Meyer, drafted Travis Etienne in the first round and signed veteran Carlos Hyde in free agency. While Robinson will likely see his production dip compared to last season, SI's John Shipley still sees Robinson as the lead runner on the depth chart, describing him as "the hammer of the offense." The presence of the two new RB additions likely means that Robinson will see around 200 carries in 2021, compared to the 240 he received in 2020. The addition of Etienne could also mean that Robinson will be limited in the passing game, but Shipley did note that Robinson is "the best pass-blocker of the group," so it's possible that he sees more receiving work than most are projecting. It's also worth noting that Meyer has described Robinson as one of his favorite players on the team on multiple occasions. Overall, Robinson sets up as a solid RB3 in 2021, and his current 60th overall ADP is fair for the second-year back, who projects as the lead runner in the Jaguars run-first offense.
