Chi Chi Gonzalez Shelled On Friday
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Chi Chi Gonzalez took the loss on Friday when he allowed seven runs on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts over four innings in a 10-4 blowout loss to the Dodgers. Gonzalez was filling in as a spot starter for Antonio Senzatela, who was placed on the COVID-19 list on Friday afternoon. Things did not go well for him or the Rockies as he served up five earned runs in the first inning alone. Chris Taylor swatted a three-run blast in that frame before Gonzalez gave up another two runs in the fourth, courtesy of a Will Smith RBI double. The rough outing raises his ERA to an ugly 5.99 to go along with a 1.47 WHIP and 49:23 K/BB ratio over 85 2/3 innings (18 appearances, 14 starts). He's slated to face these same Dodgers again on the road in his next start and should be avoided at all costs in fantasy.
