Trent Grisham Provides Clutch Knock But Friars Still Lose
3 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Trent Grisham supplied a game-tying RBI single in the ninth inning against the Washington Nationals, his only hit in four at-bats. Grisham served an offering from closer Brad Hand into left field to knot the game at 7-7 before the Friars blew it a half inning later. He also stole his ninth bag. Over a weekend where his team scored 41 runs, Grisham missed out with just three knocks, two runs and two RBI. Depending on the opposing starter, the 24-year-old lefty has swapped between leadoff and the middle-half of the lineup, posting a .270/.357/.476 slash with 11 homers, nine steals and 75 runs-plus-RBI over 283 plate appearances. With his excellent glove providing daily opportunities, Grisham should remain a solid OF2.
