3 years agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Chad Green worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings to notch his 12th hold of the season in Sunday's 9-1 win over the Boston Red Sox. Green entered the game with runners on second and third, inducing two quick outs on eight pitches to work out of the jam. He then tossed another scoreless frame en route to his team-leading 12th hold. Green's last performance before the All-Star break was a poor one against the Astros, so it was good to see him right the ship with a strong outing. His 2.79 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts over 48 1/3 innings would have value by themselves, but they look even better when backed up by three wins, three saves, and the holds he's amassed.--Tim Capurso
