3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Cole Irvin pitched seven shutout innings to outlast Shohei Ohtani and earn the win against the Angels on Monday. Irvin and Ohtani matched zeros all night, but Irvin lasted one more inning than the two-way star and it was Irvin who walked away victorious when the A's lineup got to the Los Angeles bullpen. Irvin only collected three strikeouts as his sub-20 percent strikeout rate is the on knock on him for fantasy, however, he is sporting a strong 3.42 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP while pitching half his games in pitcher-friendly Oakland. He's a strong start on Sunday against a light-hitting Mariners lineup.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
