3 years agoNew York Mets manager Luis Rojas confirmed on Tuesday that there are no plans to remove relief pitcher Edwin Diaz from the closer role. Rojas stated that if the Mets run into a save situation and he is available, Diaz will get the call to close out the game. Diaz has blown three straight save opportunities, including one on Monday night in Cincinnati. In his last three outings, all blown saves, Diaz has allowed seven earned runs over three innings. He has also posted a putrid 12.00 ERA and a 2.50 WHIP to go with six walks in six innings pitched in July. The news that the Mets are not planning to remove Diaz from the role is not shocking. That said, fantasy managers who currently roster Diaz may wish to grab Trevor May, who has picked up the Mets last two saves, as a handcuff in the event Diaz continues to struggle.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
