Clarke Schmidt Expected To Throw Sim Game Wednesday
3 years agoNew York Yankees pitcher Clarke Schmidt (elbow) is set to throw a simulated game on Wednesday, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Schmidt has missed the entire year with a strained right elbow. The team will continue to take it slow, meaning he still has a little while left on the injured list. Schmidt is the Yankees second overall prospect and was expected to be a versatile piece of manager Aaron Boone's pitching staff this year with his ability to start games and come out of the bullpen. If Schmidt can return this season, expect him to pitch out of relief in low-leverage situations to start, which wouldn't be conducive to fantasy success.
