Amir Garrett Picks Up Seventh Save
3 years agoCincinnati Reds left-hander Amir Garrett tossed a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 4-3 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday. Garrett struck out two and walked one on the way to securing the save. It is notable that it was Garrett, and not Heath Hembree, who got the nod for the team's first save opportunity coming out of the All-Star break. That comes after Hembree has already notched five saves in the month of July. Garrett now has a 0-3 record, 6.75 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, seven saves, and 43 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings of work. Look for the Reds to continue to play the matchups when it comes to save chances, with both Garrett and Hembree getting opportunities.
