3 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard earned his 15th save of the season on Wednesday when he worked a scoreless ninth inning, allowing no hits and punching out one in a 6-3 win over the Mariners. Bard had to face the three, four, and five hitters in the Mariners' lineup but had plenty of breathing room with the Rockies holding a three-run lead. He retired all three batters in order to pick up the save. He's now converted his last five save chances and is 15-for-20 on the season. The 36-year-old veteran now owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and 50:18 K/BB ratio over 39 2/3 innings. It's worth noting that Mychal Givens and Carlos Estevez worked the seventh and eighth innings, respectively. The closer role belongs to Bard.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
