3 years agoNew York Yankees pitchers Jonathan Loaisiga and Nestor Cortes have been reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of Friday's game against the Red Sox. Both Loaisiga and Cortes tested positive for the virus, but both are ready to return to the pitching staff, as expected. Loaisiga has been the unsung hero of the Yankee bullpen, recording seven wins, two saves, and 11 holds along with an outstanding 2.11 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. Cortes has been equally good, pitching to a 1.05 ERA in 25 2/3 innings with a 31:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He has potentially earned himself a spot in the Yankee rotation until Luis Severino (shoulder, groin) and Corey Kluber (shoulder) are ready to return after blanking the Astros' lineup for 4 2/3 frames in his last outing.--Tim Capurso
