3 years agoColorado Rockies relief pitcher Daniel Bard blew the save but got the win on Friday when he allowed one run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts over one inning in a 9-6 extra-innings win over the Dodgers. This was a back-and-forth contest between the Rockies and the Dodgers. Sam Hilliard smacked a solo home run in the top half of the ninth inning to give Colorado a 6-5 lead so Bard was tasked with maintaining that in the bottom half of the frame. He struggled out the gate, however, allowing the first four base-runners to reach with a pair of singles and a pair of walks. The final free pass sent a runner home so he was charged with a blown save. Bard then punched out the final three batters he faced and the Rockies retook the lead in the top of the 10th and held on for the victory so he was credited with the win. The veteran reliever now owns a 3.98 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and 53:2 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings. He's 15-for-21 on save opportunities.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
