3 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Javier Baez came off of the bench and played the role of hero in Monday's victory versus the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. Baez didn't start on Monday with a sore heel, but pinch-hit with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the ninth inning. Baez crushed the first pitch he saw from Amir Garrett to walk it off and send the crowd home with a smile on their face. Baez remains day-to-day, but it was encouraging to see him play on Monday. Baez is a trade candidate for the Cubs, but should remain a valuable contributor on either the Cubs or another team. El Mago is now hitting .245 with 22 home runs, 65 RBI and 13 stolen bases.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
