3 years agoBaltimore Orioles relief pitcher Tyler Wells (tendinitis) said that he would like to get the chance to close games for the O's when he returns from the injured list with right wrist tendinitis, per MASNSports.com's Roch Kubatko. The 26-year-old's last four appearances prior to his IL stint all came in the ninth inning, though none were in a save situation. Wells' usage by manager Brandon Hyde, coupled with trade rumors surrounding several O's relievers makes it seem reasonable that he could be the go-to guy in the ninth inning when he returns should the O's have the lead. He has a 3.92 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 32.2% strikeout rate through 43 2/3 innings pitched this season. Fantasy managers chasing saves in deep leagues could keep an eye on Wells, although he will first need to get healthy and the O's may not see a ton of save opportunities for the rest of the season.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
