German Marquez Takes The Loss Vs. The Angels
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez took the loss on Monday when he allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits with eight strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a 6-2 loss to the Angels. David Fletcher reached on a throwing error by Josh Fuentes in the bottom of the first inning before Marquez allowed a pair of RBI singles. As a result, only one of the runs was earned. He then served up a two-run homer to Jack Mayfield in the bottom of the seventh before being replaced by Ben Bowden. He ended up taking the loss as the Rockies' offense couldn't get much going with their bats. The 26-year-old right-hander now owns a 3.54 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 127:44 K/BB ratio over 124 2/3 innings (21 starts). He'll face the loaded San Diego Padres on the road in his next turn.
