3 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Tyler Anderson has been traded to the Philadelphia Phillies, according to Alex Stumpf of DK Pittsburgh Sports. The Pirates will receive pitcher Cristian Hernandez and catcher Abrahan Gutierrez from Philadelphia. Hernandez was ranked the No. 29 prospect in the Phillies system according to MLB Pipeline, while Gutierrez fell outside the top-30. Anderson has been having a pretty solid year outside of a couple bad outings, going 5-8 with a 4.35 ERA, 1.200 WHIP and 20 percent strikeout rate in 103 1/3 innings of work. He'll look to bolster a Phillies rotation that just received news on Monday that starting pitcher Zach Eflin will require a longer absence before he is activated from the IL. Anderson should see a boost in his value going forward with a better team playing behind him, and he may be worth picking up now in 12-team and deeper leagues.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
