3 years agoLos Angeles Angels first baseman Jared Walsh (side) has been placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to July 27, Megan Garcia of MLB.com reported. The 27-year-old left Monday's game against the Colorado Rockies with side pain and was later diagnosed with a right intercostal strain. Phil Gosselin will continue filling in at first base and bat third in Walsh's absence. Gosselin is slashing .288/.351/.410 with three home runs and 20 RBI on 40 hits this season. Most of his success has come against left-handed pitching and he is set to face Colorado southpaw Lucas Gilbreath on Wednesday.--Chelena Goldman
