3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland took the loss on Thursday when he allowed one run on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts over six innings in a 3-0 shutout loss to the San Diego Padres. Freeland ran into a little trouble in the first inning, culminating in an RBI double from Fernando Tatis Jr. but that would be the only run he would allow all game. The Padres hit him around a bit and had nine men reach base but Freeland was able to keep them off the scoreboard. The 28-year-old southpaw has a sterling 1.98 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over his last 41 innings (seven starts). Overall, he's got a 4.52 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 46:19 K/BB ratio over 61 2/3 innings (12 starts) on the year. He'll face the Cubs at home in his next turn and should be on the streaming radar for that one.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
