3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies right-hander Vince Velasquez (3-6) is not a guarantee to stay in the rotation, Phillies manager Joe Girardi said. The Phillies, who are fighting for a playoff spot, can't afford poor outings from their starters but got just that after Velasquez lasted just two innings giving up five runs on Friday night. The outing raised his ERA to 5.95. He has picked up 85 strikeouts to 45 walks, and he has given up 17 HRs in 81.2 IP. It's not clear who would take his spot in the rotation, but Girardi has stated that he's leaving his options open at this point. Velasquez had almost no fantasy value while in the rotation, but he should be dropped in every format if he does lose his rotation spot.--Spencer Seguin - RotoBaller
