3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray earned the win on Friday when he allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a 9-4 win over the Padres. Gray was expected to be traded before Friday's deadline but the Rockies ended up holding on to him. He came through for Colorado in his start, quieting the Padres' bats over his six-plus innings. Both runs he allowed came from a Manny Machado two-run homer in the sixth inning. The hard-throwing right-hander now owns a 3.62 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 95 strikeouts over 104 1/3 innings (19 starts). He'll get the Cubs, who just traded away their three best players, at home in his next start.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
