3 years agoWashington Nationals relief pitcher Tanner Rainey was optioned to Triple-A Rochester Sunday, in a surprise correlating move to make room for starting pitcher Josiah Gray on the active roster. The team reportedly wants Rainey to pitch every other day to work on his mechanics, and manager Davey Martinez said he expects Rainey to eventually resume his role as a late-inning option, potentially splitting saves with Kyle Finnegan.
