Nick Pivetta Can't Escape The Fifth Sunday
3 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Nick Pivetta had an abbreviated outing Sunday, failing to escape the fifth inning against the Tampa Bay Rays. He allowed three runs on three hits and a walk in 4 2/3 innings. He also struck out six batters, and gave up a two-run home run to Brandon Lowe in the third inning. After a solid April where he put up a 2.81 ERA in five starts, Pivetta's ERA has slowly climbed all the way to the 4.57 number where it now sits 21 starts into the year. Pivetta has solid strikeout numbers with 126 in 112 1/3 innings, but he shouldn't be relied on as the fantasy playoffs approach.
