Kyle Freeland Pitches Well, Exits Early
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland earned the win on Tuesday when he allowed two runs on four hits with no walks and five strikeouts over five innings in a 13-6 win over the Cubs. Freeland allowed just two runs over the first five frames by giving up an RBI groundout to Jason Heyward and a solo home run to Ian Happ. He was in line to pick his fourth straight quality start but he took a comebacker off his foot in the fifth inning and didn't come back out for the sixth. The team later described the injury as a "left foot contusion". It was a shame he left early as he had only thrown 66 pitches but he was still able to pick up the win. The 28-year-old now owns a 4.46 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 51:19 K/BB ratio over 66 2/3 innings (13 starts). He should be good to go for his next start at home against the Marlins this weekend.
