Corey Knebel May Return Next Week
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Corey Knebel (lat) could be back with the team next week on their road trip to Philadelphia and New York, The Athletic reported, citing manager Dave Roberts. Knebel has been sidelined since April 23 with a right lat injury and this week has been getting rehab game action in Triple-A. He was having a good season before his injury and was mostly pitching in the eighth inning. Knebel was 1-0 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA this year and also struck out nine in six innings. He is likely to be eased back into late leverage situations when he returns to the Dodgers, though he could also be a candidate to replace closer Kenley Jansen at some point. Knebel offers his most value is leagues that count holds and managers who roster Jansen should also keep an eye on his status when he returns.
