Fernando Tatis Jr. Hitting In Batting Cage, Nearing Return
3 years agoSan Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. (shoulder) has been hitting in the batting cage and could start hitting on the field soon, manager Jayce Tingler told the press on Friday. The 22-year-old slugger was placed on the 10-day injured list on July 31 with left shoulder inflammation after he made an awkward slide into third base. Fantasy managers are no doubt happy to hear Tatis Jr. is improving nicely since that left shoulder has taken him out of the lineup twice this season. In his last seven games prior to injury, he hit a combined .316/.381/.737 with two home runs and four RBI on six hits.
