Griffin Canning Out For The Year
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels right-hander Griffin Canning (back) is out for the remainder of the season, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. Griffin hasn't appeared in a major league game since the beginning of July and was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on July 3. He made one start in the minors before landing on the IL with a lower back strain. Canning, who the Angels expected to be a key member of their pitching staff, struggled mightily this year, posting a 5.60 ERA with 62 strikeouts, 28 walks, and 14 HRs allowed over 62.2 innings. Fantasy managers should have already dropped Canning in almost every league, but he should now only be stashed in dynasty leagues.
