Yasmani Grandal Set For Rehab Assignment Wednesday
3 years agoChicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal (knee) was sent to Double-A Birmingham on Wednesday to begin a rehab assignment. He's been sidelined since early July after undergoing surgery to repair a torn tendon in his left knee. The 32-year-old is trending in the right direction and, barring any setbacks, could be reinstated from the injured list as soon as next week. Grandal has more value in OBP and two-catcher formats after slashing .188/.388/.436 with 14 homers, 38 RBI, and 42 runs scored across 246 plate appearances in 2021. With catcher being such a shallow position, fantasy managers should stash Grandal in most league formats. Zack Collins will continue to handle catcher duties while Grandal is sidelined.
