3 years agoCarolina Panthers running back Reggie Bonnafon was listed as the backup running back on the unofficial depth chart, which was released by the team Tuesday. Bonnafon only appeared in two games for Carolina last year, as he dealt with a high-ankle sprain. The team spent a fourth-round draft pick on Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard, who had a 2,000-yard rushing season back in 2019, though Bonnafon seems to be doing enough at camp so far to hold off the rookie. While Christian McCaffrey shouldn't suddenly be considered injury-prone, the 2020 season showed just how important the backup running back could be in Carolina, as Mike Davis filled in for the All-Pro and put together a fine season. Whoever emerges as the second-string halfback, Bonnafon or Hubbard, will likely rank fairly high on the list of running back insurance policies in fantasy football.--Tim Capurso
