Rashod Bateman Needs Surgery; Expected To Be Out Until September
3 years agoBaltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman (groin) will have surgery and is expected to miss several weeks as he recovers. Bateman injured his groin during Tuesday's practice. Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters on Thursday that he expects Bateman to be able to return in September, although he wasn't clear at what point during the month it would be. Bateman is expected to be a major piece of the Baltimore passing attack in 2021 but the rookie will miss several key weeks and all of Baltimore's preseason games as he attempts to get used to the NFL game. The Ravens have also been without wideout Marquise Brown, who has been sidelined by a hamstring issue. The injury doesn't affect Bateman's dynasty outlook but it does make it tough to draft him in redraft formats, especially in more shallow leagues. It might be a better idea to scoop him off of waivers during the first month of the regular season if he's able to show he's over the injury and acclimated to the NFL.
