J.D. McKissic To Once Again Have Big Role On Third Down?
3 years agoWashington Football Team running back J.D. McKissic was active in the team's first preseason game on Thursday but was used sparingly. He handled just one carry which turned into two yards and caught one pass for three yards. The lack of work in the first preseason game wasn't a surprise considering McKissic is locked in as the No. 2 running back in Washington. However, his usage in the game signifies that he will once again have a big role on third down with Antonio Gibson handling the bulk of the carries. McKissic's role can once again limit the upside of Gibson, but there is no need to overreact from one preseason game. Gibson had three targets and caught two passes for 14 yards, so it is safe to assume he is going to have a larger role in the passing game this season. Gibson remains a lower-end RB1 and high-end RB2, while McKissic is a strong bench player with some flex appeal in PPR leagues.
