Chase Elliott Once Again a Favorite at Indianapolis
3 years agoChase Elliott expects to practice and qualify well this weekend at the Verizon 200 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 2.439-mile course is the exact one the Indy Cars raced earlier in 2021. Elliott has an average finish of 6.1 on road courses the past three seasons including seven wins. Last week, he had a second-place result despite some self-inflicted errors -- including starting from the back of the field (inspection violation). The key this week may be avoiding the inspection issues before the race. The Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver had the fastest car but will have to show a bit of restraint in tire use even on the Indy track. If Elliott does that, he stands a good chance of winning.
