3 years agoKyle Larson took the checkered flag last week because he picked his spots better than any other driver. Larson started fourth and did not have to go to the back of the field. Those two things along with his No. 5 car was why he was able to win. He was able to easily hold off Chase Elliott at Watkins Glen and win by more than two seconds. Larson made Martin Truex Jr. a distant memory as well. This was because Larson was a master at tire reserve. It is an underrated skill that often goes overlooked. It was one that was on full display last Sunday. Expect Larson to again have one of the fastest cars on this hybrid course (ROVAL).
