3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Nestor Cortes earned his first win of the year Sunday against the Chicago White Sox, throwing six innings and only allowing one run on seven hits and a walk. He struck out seven batters. Cortes has been quite effective since being inserted in the starting rotation on July 4, though this is his first quality start. With a 2.55 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 49 1/3 innings this season, Cortes has pitched himself into fantasy consideration for as long as he remains in the rotation.--Doug Goldring - RotoBaller
