3 years agoWashington Football Team wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin) is being eased back into practice after he was sidelined since June with his nagging injury. Head coach Ron Rivera is taking a precautionary approach with the 25-year-old, as he kept the speedy receiver off to the sidelines at practice on Monday because of wet field conditions. Team reporter John Keim indicated that Rivera didn't want to risk Samuel slipping and re-aggravating his groin ailment, so he did some drills on his own off to the side. The buildup of missed practice time may impact the former Panther's chemistry with his new quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, so he should be treated as a WR3 in nearly all fantasy formats, at least for now. While Samuel could be the clear No. 2 wide receiver in the pass-heavy Washington offense, tight end Logan Thomas could potentially outpace him in targets as he has already built a strong connection with the veteran signal-caller. Still, the wideout may see an increase from the 97 targets he saw last year, and if he is used out of the backfield like he was in Carolina, he could vault into lower-end WR2 territory.--Tommy Adamopoulos - RotoBaller
