3 years agoLas Vegas Raiders quarterback Marcus Mariota is expected to return to practice this week, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Monday. The backup QB missed practices last week and was sidelined in the Raiders' preseason opener due to leg soreness. Mariota threw for 226 yards with one touchdown and totaled rushing 88 yards in one game played under center last season. The former Heisman Trophy winner is looking to play a bigger role this season and show he is worthy of a starting role, although that competition could be steeper following fellow backup Nathan Peterman's solid performance in Saturday's preseason win over the Seattle Seahawks.--Chelena Goldman
