Paul Blackburn Pitches Well In Surprise Start At Chicago
3 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Paul Blackburn allowed two runs across 5 1/3 innings but took the loss Wednesday at the White Sox. Blackburn was called up from Triple-A earlier in the day and found out he was starting just hours before first pitch, so all things considered it was a strong effort from the 27-year-old. Blackburn was called up due to Chris Bassitt (face) going on the injured list, so he could make a few more starts for Oakland while Bassitt is sidelined. Blackburn has a 5.66 career ERA across 105 Major League innings and his ERA in Triple-A this season was 4.97, so there's not much here for fantasy managers to be excited about even if he sticks in the rotation.
